Tri-Shutter Card

I love making Tri-Shutter cards.  They are so easy to make, but look so impressive when finished.  I used the lovely new Autumn Meadows Designer paper from the Stampin' Up! Mini catalog.  This gorgeous paper captures the color and mood of the season.

It was 82 degrees today in Central Florida and that means only one thing.  Fall is on its way.  Yeah!!!!  I was feeling so good I went and purchased my pumpkin.  I am teaching a Halloween class next weekend and this is one of the cards we will be making. I'm not sure who figured out that by using the Stampin' Up! oval punch you could create such fabulous pumpkins, but who ever did thank you.  I love these pumpkins and hope you do too.

My First Acyclic Book.

I love the look of Acyclic books and have always wanted to make one.  This is my first attempt and I think I like it.  Once I figured out that each page, front and back basically has to line up together when placing photos, decorative paper etc., it got a lot easier to finish the book. I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed making it.

November 2010 Calendar Page.

For the month of November I used the "Branch Out" stamp set.  This stamp set was in the 2009 Spring Summer catalog and is now on the dormant list, but is still available for purchase.  II love this stamp set as it is so versatile.  It can be used for all seasons.  There is also a little bird and a pair of boots included in this set that I did not use this time.

Playing Hooky.

Instead of staying home today and playing with my new stamp sets that arrived yesterday and working on my monthly newsletter, I went to the beach with a friend.  It was a gorgeous day with a warm ocean breeze, and listening to the waves crash was almost hypnotizing.

For lunch we went to the Breakers and enjoyed the ocean view while eating delicious sandwiches.

After lunch we then drove up the coast to Daytona Beach to visit our friend Claire at Stamp & Deliver.  We had a fun time visiting with Claire and exploring new things in her store.  By 4:00pm we decided it was time to head back to Orlando. I had such a fun day with a very fun friend.

Tomorrow I will get back to work on my newsletter and play with my new Stampin' Up! sets.

Look What the Man in Brown Brought Me Today!!

Yep, lots of fun, goodies out of the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  I got the "Serene Snowflakes" stamp set, "Delightful Decorations", "Twick or Tweet", "Haunting Hill", "Four the Holidays", and "Sweet Centers".  I also got the new "Christmas Cocoa Specialty" designer paper.  There are so many more things I want to order because this Holiday Mini Catalog is jammed packed full with fun goodies, and you will be able to start ordering your own goodies in just 6 short days.

May 2010 Calendar.

Here is another look at the 2010 calendar I am making.  I used the wonderful "Petal Pizzazz" stamp set for the month of May.  I love this stamp set.  I think I have used it more than any other Stampin' Up! stamp set that I own.  It is so versatile and so fun to use. And check out those beautiful "In-Colors".  Aren't they gorgeous!?  I love them. I used some Swarovski Rinestones in the center of the flowers to give them some pop.  Hope you enjoy.

Each calendar is 5 x 7", spiral bound and printed on Stampin' Up!'s Whisper White card stock. Check back soon for more sample months.

Back from Tallahassee.

Our very sweet daughter Laura is moved into FSU and ready for her first college class tomorrow morning.  I missed her terribly the minute I had to say good-bye to her and we drove off the campus and back to Orlando.  She is such a smart young women with such a bright furture, and I know she will do so well at FSU.

Tallahassee Bound.

I will be gone from my blog for a few days as my husband and I will be driving our youngest of two daughters to Tallahassee to help her move into the dorm at Florida State. Moving my sweet daughter to Tallahassee is very bitter sweet for me.  FSU is going to be such a great experience for her and she is going to get a fabulous college education there, but (sniff sniff)  I'm going to miss her so much.  She is my youngest.  I have no more left.  Our house is going to be so quiet, and I'm going to be so sad.  I've been dreading this day for the past year, and now it is here.  Oh.....I'll survive.  Fortunately with today's technology I'll be able to bug the heck out of her with phone calls, text messages, Skype, and emails.  Here is a picture I took of her this evening amongst her mound of things she is hoping will fit in her dorm room.

Halloween Book- Post 2

As promised, here are the inside pages from my halloween book. Unfortunately, I didn't have Stampin' Up!'s new "Cast-A-Spell" designer paper when I made this book, but my next book will be made using it.  I think a Christmas book would be fun to make too.  Hope you enjoy.

Halloween Book

 

Some of my fondness memories as a child are the many Halloween nights spent dressing up in costumes and collecting candy in the neighborhood.  I grew up in a suburb of Chicago, and it was usually cold and rainy on Halloween night, but this never made Halloween night any less enjoyable.  I remember clearly, slushing through the fresh wet fallen leaves, and for some reason the cold wet air always made Halloween night just a bit more spookier and a lot more fun.  As an adult and parent I have always enjoyed making Halloween a special holiday for my children with decorating the house, carving pumpkins and picking out the perfect costume.  My daughters are now young women, but I still enjoy Halloween just as much as ever, and I will continue each Halloween to decorate my house, carve a pumpkin and eat candy corn. 

I made this Halloween book last week to put some of the many pictures I have taken of my daughters celebrating their Halloween.  Check back tomorrow to see the inside of this fun, and spooky book.

Do You Doodle?

I have always loved to doodle, but never applied it to anything I did until now.  Last week while I was attending CHA I enrolled in a class titled "Do You Doodle?"  And boy did we doodle!! This is a scrapbook page I made at home this past week and did some doodling techniques.  I used some recent photo's I took at my daughters HS graduation and doodled around them and added some lines for journaling which I have not added yet.

This is one HOT squirrel!

I thought this was the sweetest photo my daughter took outside of her place of employment last week. The local squirrels are fed often by the merchants and customers, and on this particular day it was in the mid to high 90's.  I think this little guy was just too hot to stand and decided to just take it easy.

I love going to the beach, and I love the Just Beachy stamp set.  Unfortunately this set is no longer available, however this shutter card design can be used with so many other stamp sets.  If you would like the directions to make this card please leave me a comment or send me an email and I will get the directions to you.  It looks like a difficult card to make, but really it is so easy.

You Know It's Summer In Florida

when it looks like this every afternoon. So far it has been a very wet beginning of summer in Central Florida.  It rains every afternoon.  I hope this is not a sign of things to come later this summer.

My Top 10 List From The Last Chance List

Below I have listed 10 items I think you should consider purchasing from The Last Chance List, and my reasons for purchasing them before they retire for ever June 30.

1. Seaside stamp set  #113512 page 97. Not only is this an absolutely beautiful stamp set, but it is a very versatile stamp set that can be used for everyday cards, birthday cards, Father and Mother's Day cards, and used on scrap-booking pages.  These shell designs are delicately detailed and once colored they simply pop and look so real.  I own this set of stamps and will continue to use it long after it retires this month.

2. Doodles This  #114954 page 88.  This is a perfect stamp set to stamp using Versamark ink to create beautiful backgrounds on your cards or scrapbook pages.  

3. Big Flowers #114932 page 122.  I love this set of stamps because they work so perfectly with the Circle punches and the Scallop punch.  These images are so fun to layer using different color card stock. In my book, these stamps will never go out of style.

4. Outlined for Fun #115038 page 133.  Another set of stamps that will never get old.  These stamps are so much fun to color, or just stamped in black.  Perfect for tags, gifts, and card fronts and insides. 

5. Good Morning Sunshine DSP #113966 page 160.  Not sure what Stampin' Up! is thinking by retiring this designer paper, other than it matches some of the In-Colors and all the In-Colors are retiring, but the Good Friends stamp set and the Cheap Talk set and the On board So Tweet are not retiring and this paper goes with those sets.  Stock up now if you have the these sets.  I am! 

6. Sunshine Garden #113911 page 164.  What can I say??  This Simply Scrappin' paper is gorgeous and perfect for summer time cards and scrapbook pages. If you don't scrapbook than make cards using the stickers and beautiful paper.

7.  Doodle Wheel #109684 page 204. Perfect for making backgrounds on your cards using Versamark ink. A must have!

8. So Swirly Wheel  #109683 page 204.  Same as above. Perfect for backgrounds.

9.  Coluzzle Cutting System  #102264 page 188.  I know Stampin' Up! has come out with the fabulous Circle Scissor Plus, but I love my Coluzzle Cutting System.  It is so easy to use, and I get perfect circles or ovals every time.  A must have!

10.  Corduroy Buttons page 176.  These buttons are wonderful.  I know they go with the In-Colors which are retiring too, but anyone who has lots of In-Color card stock left you don't want to miss purchasing these and adding them to your cards.  Plus......they are half price right now until June 30.
